Lee Dixon would swap Lewis-Skelly for Man Utd star

Lee Dixon would be happy to see Arsenal send Myles Lewis-Skelly to Manchester United in exchange for Marcus Rashford, as reports suggest the Gunners are prepared to consider offers for the defender. Lewis Skelly lost his place as Arsenal’s left-back last season and spent time playing in midfield towards the end of the campaign, where he performed well.

Midfield is reportedly the position Lewis-Skelly wants to play in the long term, but the arrival of Bruno Guimaraes could make regular game time difficult this season. Arsenal have therefore placed him on the market, although the defender would prefer to remain at the club.

Arsenal would reportedly be willing to sell Lewis-Skelly if they receive a good offer. Because the defender was developed through the club’s academy, any transfer fee would represent pure profit for the Gunners.

Dixon believes Arsenal should take advantage of the situation by using Lewis-Skelly in a potential deal for Rashford. The Manchester United attacker could be available this summer, and the former Arsenal player believes he could become a valuable addition to Mikel Arteta’s squad.

Rashford’s situation could allow Arsenal to strengthen their attack while allowing Lewis-Skelly to move somewhere he may have greater opportunities to develop his game.

Dixon Explains Rashford Preference

Dixon said via Mirror Football:

“Would I swap them (Myles Lewis-Skelly and Marcus Rashford)? You know what, I probably would. And that’s nothing against Myles Lewis-Skelly; it’s about giving him the freedom to go and expand his game elsewhere.

“With Marcus Rashford, he’s a player who needs an arm around his shoulder, and Arteta would be great for him. Give him that love, give him the freedom to play on that left side, and yeah, I’d like to see him in an Arsenal shirt. I have my reservations about whether he’s consistently a top-class player, but based on what Arsenal have in the squad now, he’d be a good addition.”

Dixon’s comments show that he sees Rashford as a potentially useful addition despite his reservations over the attacker’s consistency. For Arsenal, a deal involving Lewis-Skelly could provide an opportunity to bring in an established forward while allowing the young defender to continue his development elsewhere.
