Back from a thigh injury a month ago, Lee Kang-in has emerged as one of PSG’s liveliest performers, his assist in the 1-0 win at Le Havre hinting at greater responsibility.
According to L'Équipe, the 25-year-old returned to action on 1 February after a mid-December thigh problem at the Intercontinental Cup and has looked fresher than several team-mates. On Saturday at Le Havre he maintained high intensity across the hour he played.
Starting on the right, he repeatedly attacked his full-back and threatened with his left-footed delivery. An early corner found Khvitcha Kvaratskhelia, who headed just wide, before a cross to Warren Zaïre-Emery and another to Bradley Barcola for the winner in the 37th minute.
Since arriving in the summer of 2023, he has not secured a central role under Luis Enrique. He seldom disappears but he has rarely dominated games, serving more as a complementary option.
Atlético de Madrid revisited their interest this winter, but the move fell through. Luis Enrique blocked a mid-season exit for a dependable squad member, and Atlético’s loan with option proposal was never likely to be accepted.
Lee is contracted until June 2028 and PSG have begun considering an extension, with the player yet to respond. The club want him to grow in influence and consistency. His profile as a natural crosser does not entirely fit Enrique’s game plan, yet he offers something unique, delivering six crosses at Le Havre when no team-mate managed even two, and he has three goals and four assists in all competitions.
Continuing from before his lay-off, this may be his most convincing spell in Paris colours. The next step is to show it in the Champions League, where his last start was on 22 January 2025.
