Leeds United’s centre-back reshuffle could test Wolves’ resolve over Ladislav Krejci, with movement possible as players return from the World Cup.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Leeds have agreed a deal to sell Pascal Struijk to Brighton for around £20 million. Struijk predominantly operates at left centre-back, a role Krejci can fill.

Leeds were recently linked with Krejci. Wolves do not want to lose the defender, although he is clearly considered Premier League standard.

Krejci spent last season on loan at Molineux and the club triggered a clause to make the move permanent, thought to total about £26 million. It has been reported that his new deal includes a release clause of about 40 million. Whether Wolves would sell at that level remains uncertain.

Only Raul Jimenez and Jose Sa remain at the World Cup for Wolves, with Krejci, Santiago Bueno, Hwang Hee-chan and Jean-Ricner Bellegarde out after the group stage. As the squad reconvenes, decisions over futures could follow.

Keeping Krejci would hand the promotion push an early lift, but there should be little surprise if Leeds make an approach once the Struijk move is confirmed.
