Daniel Farke offered a largely positive fitness bulletin before Saturday’s Elland Road meeting with Brentford, with a brighter update on Noah Okafor but Gabriel Gudmundsson ruled out. Victory under the lights would move Leeds six points clear of relegation for the night at least.
According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, Okafor has been out since mid-February, returned to training last week, then suffered a minor setback that kept him out against Crystal Palace, but his manager’s latest update was more encouraging. Keith Andrews’ side head north with problems of their own.
Brentford endured a possible new concern in Monday’s draw with Wolves. The visitors already have Fabio Carvalho out for the season after anterior cruciate ligament surgery in November. Antoni Milambo is also out for the season following ACL surgery the same month.
Josh Dasilva continues his comeback after ACL surgery and two further operations late last season. He has rejoined some first-team work this month and is being managed carefully. Rico Henry will miss a number of weeks with a hamstring problem, and Aaron Hickey is expected to be out until after the international break.
Midfielder Vitaly Janelt is also expected to be out until after the international break due to a metatarsal injury sustained against Brighton. Okafor’s status follows an improved update from Farke.
