Leeds confirm Trafford in record transfer | OneFootball

Leeds United have announced othe signing of goalkeeper James Trafford from Manchester City. The goalkeeper arrives in a record transfer and sets off a real domino effect among goalkeepers in the Premier League.

The Whites will pay the Citizens around £40 million according to reports. Trafford, who was England's backup goalkeeper at the last World Cup, had made just 17 appearances for City last season.

The deal makes Trafford the most expensive signing in the club's history. Before that, the highest transfer had been the arrival of Georginio Rutter from Hoffenheim in January 2023 for £35.5 million.

To complete the domino effect triggered by Trafford's move to Leeds, Manchester City naturally went in search of a replacement. And it will also be a World Cup goalkeeper: Argentine Gerónimo Rulli, the back-up to Dibu Martínez, already has a verbal agreement with the Citizens and is expected to leave Marseille in France.
