Leeds United are eyeing a move for Borussia Monchengladbach centre-back Nico Elvedi this summer, according to the Daily Mail.

The Elland Road club is looking for serious reinforcement after fighting hard to keep itself in the Premier League.

Next season is poised to be another long and arduous journey for Leeds, and they need to provide Daniel Farke with the right tools to get the job done.

Elvedi has emerged on the Leeds radar, as he has a year left on his contract, and now is the perfect time to snap him up.

The 29-year-old played a key role as Gladbach secured a 12th-place finish, helping to keep 12 clean sheets in 33 appearances.

He won 56 percent of his ground and 67% of his ground duels in the German top-flight. He also bagged two goals and three assists in 36 appearances across all competitions.

While the Leeds target never quite hit the lofty heights his talent promised when he first arrived in the Bundesliga, he has still been an impressive performer.

The 69-cap Switzerland international brings excellent reading of the game, composure, and leadership experience. He is an accomplished centre-back with great positional play.

Elsewhere, Leeds have submitted a £20 million bid for midfielder Shea Charles. The offer for the Northern Ireland international includes performance-related add-ons.

Leeds are also chasing Julian Brandt, who is available as a free agent. Harry Wilson is another out-of-contract player on the Yorkshire club’s radar.

Further reinforcements could arrive in midfield, with Leeds reviving discussions over Hidemasa Morita.

The experienced Japan international is also available on a free transfer and would bring valuable top-flight and European experience to Farke’s squad.

Away from incoming transfers, Leeds are also securing the core of their current squad.

Captain Ethan Ampadu has already committed his future by signing a new long-term contract.

The Whites are also keen to tie goalkeeper Karl Darlow to a fresh deal despite interest from Manchester United.
