Leeds United will visit Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup second round, setting up back-to-back trips to the City Ground.

According to Leedsunited.news, the tie will follow the Premier League opener at Forest on 22 August and is likely to be played the following midweek, on Tuesday or Wednesday.

The second round is split north and south, with Leeds assigned ball no.11 in the northern draw, which also featured Everton, Hull, Newcastle and Forest.

Leeds went out at this stage last season, losing to Sheffield Wednesday on penalties after Jayden Bogle scored in normal time. They have exited in round two in six of the last eight campaigns.

They were beaten 3-1 at Forest last season, when Jack Harrison filled in at left-back and conceded a penalty after Lukas Nmecha had put Leeds ahead early on.

Leeds lifted the League Cup under Don Revie in 1967-68, but recent progress has been scarce. Since taking charge, Daniel Farke has not made it past round two, and the season before last brought a 3-0 defeat to Middlesbrough, whose side included Luke Ayling.
