Leeds United have extended Under-21 goalkeeper Rory Mahady’s loan at Scunthorpe United until the end of the 2025/26 season. The 19-year-old has impressed during his first taste of senior football.

Mahady joined the National League side in October on a youth loan, initially for one game against York City when fellow loanee Rory Watson was ineligible. A strong debut led to successive short-term extensions.

His spell at the Attis Arena has brought 13 appearances and three clean sheets, with the Iron winning eight games to sit sixth in the fifth tier. The Scotland Under-21 international has established a regular rhythm of matches.

“It’s been a really good three months. A lot of good results, a couple of downs but nothing that’s stopped us,” he told BBC Radio Humberside.

“Just getting as many minutes as possible really. I think I’m doing alright, doing my job as best as I can. I feel I’m coming on every week, getting into a good rhythm of games so I’m happy.”

Asked about talks with Leeds, he said: “They're really happy, they’re just happy I’m out playing football at a really good level. Obviously it’s my first loan so to get to this level, I’m really happy with that and so are they.”
