Leeds United are weighing a move for Sassuolo’s Bosnia and Herzegovina defender Tarik Muharemovic after Pascal Struijk joined Brighton in a £20m deal.

Fabrizio Romano reports that Leeds have joined the chase, with Bournemouth and Sunderland making recent enquiries, and that former club Juventus must decide because they hold a 50 percent sell-on clause. Interest is not thought to be advanced at this stage.

Muharemovic, 23, stands six-foot-four and was in his nation’s World Cup squad this summer. He played the full 1-1 group opener against Canada and started the next match against Switzerland, where he was sent off late on for denying a goalscoring opportunity.

Suspended for the group finale against Qatar, he returned for the round of 32 against the USA and completed the 2-0 defeat.

Leeds also hold an interest in 22-year-old Southampton midfielder Shea Charles. Mail claims positive talks took place over the weekend and said a decision was nearing. Talks remain ongoing and there is no update on a deal.
