Leeds United have under 12 hours to resolve Illan Meslier’s future, with the Türkiye transfer window shutting today and Besiktas linked.
The Turkish window runs from January 1 to February 6, so Besiktas have only the rest of the day to act. Sabah reports the club are interested in Meslier but have not made a formal offer, and do not consider a move especially difficult.
Meslier was pivotal in Leeds’ 2024/25 Championship title, recording 21 clean sheets in 39 matches, albeit with some costly errors. Across three previous Premier League seasons he kept just 21 clean sheets, prompting doubts over his role this term.
Daniel Farke signed Lucas Perri from Lyon for £15.6m last summer, and Meslier has not featured once in 2025/26. Perri has handled league duties, Karl Darlow has played in the cups, and Alex Cairns has at least a Premier League 2 appearance.
The UK window closed at 7pm on Monday, though outbound deals can still be sanctioned to leagues that remain open. With Meslier out of contract in June, any fee is expected to be modest, which could still help with PSR pressures.
Despite confidence in Türkiye ahead of the deadline, talkSPORT claims Meslier is reluctant to join Kara Kartal, so he could see out his deal and depart as a free agent this summer.
