Leeds face a potential setback in their bid to keep Karl Darlow, with rival Premier League clubs moving for the goalkeeper.

The Daily Mail reports that Everton and Manchester United have ‘offered’ contracts to the 35-year-old Welsh international, while Leeds are also understood to have tabled terms as he considers his next step.

Darlow ended last season as Daniel Farke’s first-choice, replacing £16million summer signing Lucas Perri in January. He started 22 Premier League games and kept five clean sheets. His deal expired this week, despite Leeds confirming last month that talks were ongoing.

He is also believed to have held talks with Tottenham before they signed Martin Dubravka. Any move to Old Trafford or Goodison Park would likely be as back-up to established first choices Jordan Pickford and Senne Lammens.

Game time would appear most likely at Elland Road, given his finish to the campaign. Darlow’s homegrown status and Premier League experience still make him an attractive, low-risk squad option.

Leeds’ goalkeeping picture remains uncertain, with Darlow out of contract and Perri’s debut season raising further questions. Illan Meslier has departed and has been linked with a back-up role at Arsenal. Out-of-contract Alex Cairns is said to have agreed a new deal.

Leeds have also been linked with Parma’s Japan international Zion Suzuki, who is admired, although there is currently no active pursuit.
