Leeds United’s rivals are accelerating summer business, with Hidemasa Morita set for Hull City, Forest nearing Ousmane Diomande and Fulham pursuing Gonzalo Garcia.

Japanese midfielder Morita is poised to join newly promoted Hull on a free after leaving Sporting CP, BBC Radio Humberside reports a deal has been agreed. Leeds were repeatedly linked earlier this summer but club sources dismissed the claims.

Even the player’s agent was said to be baffled by those links. Morita should still visit Elland Road next season, only in black and gold.

Forest are closing in on centre-back Diomande, with a €40m (£34m) package close to agreement, Fabrizio Romano reports. The right-footer was never a clean fit for Leeds’ search to replace Pascal Struijk, and Leeds instead agreed a £34m deal for Tarik Muharemovic.

If Forest finalise the move in the coming weeks, Diomande could debut against Leeds. Daniel Farke’s side begin the 2026/27 campaign at the City Ground on Saturday August 22.

Fulham have opened talks with Real Madrid over 22-year-old Garcia, The Athletic reports, with new head coach Alvaro Arbeloa overseeing the pursuit. Madrid are open to a sale, and Jose Mourinho is believed to like him but cannot guarantee a prominent role. Garcia has 13 goals and seven assists in 51 games since 2023, and Fulham need reinforcements after Raul Jimenez’s exit, top-scorer Wilson joining Leeds and injuries for Rodrigo Muniz.
