Leeds United’s relegation rivals Tottenham face a fresh fitness worry after £65m striker Dominic Solanke went off injured at Wolves.
The Telegraph reports that scans point to a grade-two hamstring injury, which could keep him out for three to eight weeks. At the low end he would miss two games, beyond a month it would effectively end his season.
Xavi Simons also went off after a collision and his season has since ended due to an ACL rupture. Solanke’s first-half withdrawal saw Richarlison come on, amid muscle concerns.
Initially the problem was described as muscular and the severity unclear, with further assessments planned early this week.
If Solanke is out for a month or more, he would be the fourth player to have his season ended since Roberto De Zerbi took charge four weeks ago. Mohammed Kudus suffered a setback last month, and captain Christian Romero and Simons have had fresh issues recently.
De Zerbi is due to update on Friday before Sunday’s trip to Aston Villa. An absence of just under two weeks would also rule Solanke out of the Leeds game on 11 May.
Leeds could have their first chance to secure safety at Tottenham if results this weekend fall their way. Beating Burnley on Friday would move them nine points clear of 18th-placed Spurs, who have 12 to play including Sunday’s match at Villa Park.
