Leeds United have confirmed the sale of Pascal Struijk to Brighton and Hove Albion for an undisclosed fee, which includes a future sell-on clause. In a statement, the club said the move helps keep them within Profitability and Sustainability Rules on the final deadline day.

Sales were expected this summer after last year’s decision to retain key players for a survival push. With the Dutchman entering the final year of his contract, Leeds offered significantly improved terms, but he wanted a new challenge after eight and a half years at Elland Road.

A higher than expected 14th-place finish and a run to the Emirates FA Cup semi-final, together with the single sale of Struijk, mean the club remains PSR compliant for the three-year window ending 30 June 2026. A new system, Squad Cost Ratio, now applies to Premier League clubs.

Struijk joined as an 18-year-old in 2018 after leaving Ajax, initially linking up with the Under-21s as a free signing, so his sale counts as pure profit. He broke through under Marcelo Bielsa during the 2019/20 Championship-winning season, then established himself in the top flight.

He departs with 196 appearances and 14 goals, winning two Championship titles. Struijk served in the leadership group under Daniel Farke, later as vice-captain, and wore the armband on a number of occasions. The club praised his professionalism and community work, and wished him and his family well.
