A summer clearout is anticipated at Montpellier HSC. La Paillade are rock-bottom of Ligue 1 and 11 points behind Stade de Reims, who occupy the relegation spot with just six games remaining. The writing seems to be on the wall, whilst the club are also managerless after MHSC and Jean-Louis Gasset chose to part ways by mutual consent on Monday.
With a drop to the second division now extremely likely, sales will be necessary this summer. The likes of Khalil Fayad, Becir Omeragic, and Joris Chotard represent some of the more bankable assets, however, Modibo Sagnan (25) is also being linked with a move away from the Ligue 1 club.
According to a report from Foot Mercato, Sagnan, who joined Montpellier last winter from FC Utrecht for just over €3m, is coveted by EFL Championship side Leeds United, who are this season bidding for promotion back to the Premier League. The Yorskhire side have a strong interest in the Mali international, whose contract with Montpellier runs until 2028.
