Leeds ended their Elland Road campaign with a stoppage-time winner against Brighton and a clean sheet. Daniel Farke’s name rang around the ground.

Karl Darlow earned his clean sheet with one excellent stop and calm decision-making. Jaka Bijol stood firm, and Sam Byram’s late down-the-line pass preceded the goal on what is almost certainly his final Elland Road outing. yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk notes the win had a smash and grab feel.

The second half brought concern as Anton Stach was stretchered off after an innocuous aerial bump and awkward landing, a worry for Leeds and his World Cup hopes. Brighton head coach Fabian Hürzeler could not find a breakthrough and appeared to lose his cool at full-time. Georginio Rutter received a generous welcome but did not provide Brighton’s spark, and was smashed by James Justin.

Off camera, James Milner stretched with a theraband outside the away dressing room. Paraag Marathe’s guests narrowly avoided being hit as Ao Tanaka tried to control a touchline ball.

Rutter’s name rang out again as he warmed up and shared a lengthy reunion with Willy Gnonto, long enough for Joel Piroe to tell him to get moving. Afterwards, Darlow’s tiny child waved to the crowd and Alex Cairns led a South Stand wave at Ethan Ampadu’s insistence.
