Leeds United midfielder Anton Stach was forced off before half-time with an apparent right ankle problem during Sunday’s FA Cup tie at West Ham. According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, the German left the field after a heavy challenge.

Leeds had been on top in midfield and took the lead on 26 minutes, Ao Tanaka finishing a slick move with a deflected effort.

Close to the break, Stach was sent through by Noah Okafor on a counter and his shot was saved by Alphonse Areola. West Ham defender Max Kilman, stretching to block, went through Stach and the midfielder’s right ankle appeared to roll. He received treatment and limped around the pitch in clear pain.

Stach briefly tried to continue, but Brenden Aaronson was already preparing to come on and replaced him a couple of minutes later.

The 27-year-old had been a doubt for the cup tie after reporting a hip issue in training. He was on Germany duty across the past fortnight and only came off the bench once, against Switzerland.

Leeds were also without Gabriel Gudmundsson and Daniel James, who were left out of the matchday squad. James is expected to miss a couple of weeks with an adductor strain, while Gudmundsson was not risked due to a minor groin issue.
