Bellingham struck twice inside a minute to put England in front, before Mexico replied to make it 2-1 at half-time.

Kane restored the two-goal cushion from the spot, then later conceded a penalty, but England held firm to close out the win.

Three-word reactions ranged from 'Gave me palpitations' and 'Edge of seat' to 'Well done, England' and 'Glorious victorious England'. Others called it 'Fast, furious, frenetic', while the hopeful refrain 'It's coming home' also featured. England face Norway in the quarter-finals on Saturday.
