In a recent report, Club Doria 46 claimed that Leeds United are among several clubs hoping to sign Sampdoria defender Omar Colley who fancies a move to the Premier League. It has been stated that the Whites could face competition in the form of Newcastle United, Everton and Watford in pursuit of the Serie A sensation.

Colley’s Impressive Run Of Form In Italian Football

Colley is having a solid campaign at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium as he has been responsible for putting in a run of impressive displays at the heart of Sampdoria’s backline. The Gambia international has been involved in 19 matches for the Italian side this season, picking up five yellow cards in the process across all competitions.

What Will Colley Bring To Leeds United?

Colley has got decent pace under his belt that allows him to make some solid recovering runs at the back when the opposition are on the front foot. He is usually quick to spot the danger and can time his challenges well to secure possession back inside his half. The 32-time Gambia international is always willing to put his foot through the ball when needed and can even play his way out from the back.

A centre-back of Colley’s skillset could be a shrewd addition to Marcelo Bielsa‘s squad as he is currently playing some of the best football of his career.

At 29, Colley has still got a few years left in him to perform at his peak, so the Whites can expect him to make an immediate impact if they can successfully get him on board this year.

Colley will bring a lot of quality to Leeds United‘s backline which makes him a worthy target for Bielsa to pursue in January or next summer. Moreover, he could help the West Yorkshire club maintain their Premier League status in the coming seasons.
