Leeds United and Sunderland transfer target Roony Bardghji ‘will leave’ Barcelona in the final weeks of the transfer window to seek more game time.

Still just 20, Bardghji has found it hard to nudge his way into the Barcelona first-team, despite being tipped to have a big future ahead of him.

Despite missing out on a spot in Sweden’s World Cup squad, the former FC Copenhagen talent had remained determined to stay at the Camp Nou and prove himself.

Recently however he started to soften that stance.

The Premier League has long been signalled as a potential destination, with Leeds United and Sunderland just two of the clubs heavily linked with Bardghji.

However, interested sides are not keen on the Catalan giants’ preferred deal formula, which would help Barcelona retain the opportunity to re-sign him on favourable terms once he flourishes.

Even though the situation has been unclear, Bardghji ‘will leave’ Barcelona before the window slams shut, according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Bardghji and Barcelona are set to work together to seek a move away in the final weeks of the transfer window as the Swede accepts he needs game time.

At Sunderland, the 20-year-old winger would get the opportunity to take part in the Europa League, something that would not be possible at Elland Road.

Leeds, though, need reinforcements down the flanks as there are expectations of them being thinned in that area, amidst uncertainty regarding the futures of Largie Ramazani and Willy Gnonto.

Bardghji will be looking to pick his next destination carefully as he looks for somewhere he can not just play regularly, but where there is also the right environment to help him to develop.

Now that a firm decision has been made for the winger to head away from the Camp Nou, the chase for his signature is expected to pick up pace in the coming weeks.

It remains to be seen if Bardghji ultimately ends up at either Leeds or Sunderland.
