Leeds United have begun behind-the-scenes squad planning and expect to announce decisions on out-of-contract players soon, head coach Daniel Farke said before Sunday's Premier League finale at West Ham United.

According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, Farke said talks have started in recent days and that once everything is settled the club will communicate it. He added he was not ready to confirm anything at his press conference, with decisions anticipated sooner than a few weeks.

Sam Byram and Illan Meslier are both out of contract at the end of June. Byram appeared from the bench against Brighton on Sunday, a planned run-out for the final home game.

Byram's second stint began alongside Farke's tenure. He made 37 appearances in the first season, which ended with play-off final defeat at Wembley, then 39 last term as Leeds won the Championship and promotion. This season chances have been scarce, with Brighton only his second Premier League outing.

Meslier initially arrived on loan from Lorient in 2019, stepped in for Kiko Casilla during the Covid-disrupted run-in and kept the gloves for three Premier League seasons. He started the Championship campaign under Farke, but high-profile errors saw Karl Darlow finish the promotion push. Meslier's last Leeds game was in March 2025, with Lucas Perri signed last summer and Darlow still ahead of him.

Last week Farke said he and the board would agree a path forward now the first stage of their plan, Premier League status, was achieved.
