Leeds United are hoping to sign FC Krasnodar attacker Eduard Spertsyan before the transfer deadline today, according to the Daily Mail.

Manager Daniel Farke has been trying to strengthen his attacking options at the Elland Road club.

Crystal Palace have pipped the Whites to Wolverhampton Wanderers Jorgen Strand Larsen.

The Yorkshire club could now move for Spertsyan, having attempted to sign him last summer.

The 25-year-old Russian-born Armenian international has been involved in 40 goals since last term, and Leeds could do with such a player in the final third.

He has bagged nine goals and 13 assists this term after ending last season with 11 goals and seven assists.

Farke knows Spertsyan from his three-month spell as manager of Krasnodar, and a reunion could be on the cards in the coming hours.

The Leeds target predominantly plays as a number ten but can also feature on the left wing, and moving to the Premier League could appeal to him.

Spertsyan has never played outside of the Russian top flight, but it appears his former boss is convinced that he has what it takes to hit the ground running in the Premier League.

His strengths include scoring from direct free-kicks, taking set-pieces, long shots, dribbling, playing key passes and finishing, which could all come in handy at Leeds.

The Whites have until 7.00 pm today to get a deal for him done, and more players could be linked with them in the coming hours.

Leeds suffered a 4-0 defeat at home to league leaders Arsenal over the weekend and will look to bounce back when they host Nottingham Forest in a crucial six-pointer on Friday.
