Leeds United are moving towards a deal for defender Tarik Muharemovic while talks for Shea Charles remain active. According to Leeds Live, the club also need a new goalkeeper after departures this summer.
Leeds have an agreement in principle with Sassuolo for the 23-year-old, with the fee around £34 million, which would be the club's second-costliest signing. The Bosnian international is expected to replace Pascal Struijk, who has joined Brighton & Hove Albion.
Muharemovic spent last season in a back four for club and country. Veteran goalkeeper Karl Darlow has left on a free to join Manchester United after being offered a renewal without a guaranteed starting role, with United offering bigger wages. He made 38 appearances in three seasons, keeping 10 clean sheets, and played a key part in the Championship title and promotion.
Darlow posted a farewell on social media, thanking supporters and saying it was an honour to represent Leeds. With Darlow and Illan Meslier both departing, recruiting a reliable new goalkeeper is now a priority. The club are assessing options including 23-year-old Parma stopper Zion Suzuki.
Leeds are leading the chase for 22-year-old Shea Charles, though a final agreement with Southampton has not been reached. Several bids have been lodged and the south coast club are seeking close to £30 million. Leeds remain cautious on price and are prepared to walk away if it becomes unreasonable.
