Leeds United confirm Max Wöber exit after mutual contract termination | OneFootball

Leeds United said in a statement that Max Wöber’s contract has been terminated by mutual consent, allowing the defender to leave with a year remaining.

The 28-year-old has barely featured for three years, spending 2023-24 on loan at Borussia Monchengladbach after relegation. He returned to make eight appearances as the club won promotion back to the Premier League, then joined Werder Bremen on loan last season, where a serious knee injury limited him to three games.

Bremen did not offer him a chance to stay. Schalke are closing in on his signature, and Leeds are facilitating a quick exit as they do not see a future for him at Elland Road.

Wöber joined from RB Salzburg in 2023 and featured 19 times in his debut season across all competitions. He made eight league appearances in the 2024/25 Championship title-winning campaign, scoring once, before heading to Bremen on loan.

He now leaves on a permanent basis and the club wished him well for the future. The Austrian is free to finalise his next move.
