Leeds United confirm Max Wöber exit as Schalke move nears | OneFootball

Leeds United have confirmed the permanent exit of Max Wöber after his contract was terminated by mutual consent, clearing the way for a free departure.

According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, the Austrian is close to joining Schalke on a free after undergoing medical tests.

Wöber arrived from RB Salzburg in January 2023 on a four-and-a-half year deal for £10m, which was due to run until next summer before being cut short.

He made 28 senior appearances in all competitions while contracted to Leeds. Two seasons were spent on loan after he activated a relegation release clause to join Borussia Monchengladbach in 2023.

He returned for the Championship title-winning 2024/25 campaign but was on the fringes, featuring in eight league games. A loan to Werder Bremen followed last summer, yet a serious knee injury on debut limited him to three outings.
