Leeds United have confirmed Morrie Eisenberg will leave Elland Road this summer to become San Diego Wave’s chief executive in the National Women’s Soccer League, the club said in a statement.

Eisenberg will depart officially in August. He joined in October 2023 as chief business officer, contributing to the Elland Road redevelopment plan, commercial revenues and business operations.

Managing director Robbie Evans expressed disappointment at losing him, while praising his impact over three seasons and noting that successful staff can attract outside interest.

Evans highlighted Eisenberg’s tireless work on the stadium expansion, which he believes will benefit the club, supporters and the community for generations, and described the club as on an excellent trajectory.

He offered best wishes to Eisenberg and his family, joking that a return would be welcome if California sunshine ever loses its appeal compared with Yorkshire weather.

Eisenberg described his time at Leeds as a privilege, pointed to positive strides toward the aim of becoming an established Premier League side, and thanked staff, supporters around the world, the people of Yorkshire and ownership. He added that he will remain a proud member of the Leeds United family and wished the club every success.
