Leeds United have confirmed the signing of Tarik Muharemović from Sassuolo on a five-year contract. The club said in a statement that he is their second permanent addition of the window after Harry Wilson. The move is worth £34m all in.
The 23-year-old centre-back has been earmarked to take Pascal Struijk’s place in Daniel Farke’s defence, following the Dutchman’s move to Brighton earlier this summer. Muharemović flew into Leeds on Thursday to complete his medical and paperwork.
He impressed in his debut Serie A campaign as Sassuolo finished 11th in 2025/26, then represented Bosnia and Herzegovina at the FIFA World Cup this summer. He stands six foot four.
After starting out in Austria with Wolfsberger AC, he joined Juventus, then moved on loan to Sassuolo in August 2024, scoring in his second appearance as they won Serie B and sealed promotion. He made 30 appearances before a permanent switch and added 33 more last season across all competitions.
At international level he has 17 senior caps, featuring in the Nations League, World Cup qualifying and the play-offs, as well as this summer’s finals.
Leeds continue to work on further additions, including a move for Manchester City and England goalkeeper James Trafford. They have held talks with representatives of free agent Julian Brandt and remain hopeful of agreeing a deal with Southampton for Shea Charles.
