FC Barcelona this summer have placed a lot of emphasis on sales and are also keen on making them happen as soon as possible, to give them the best chance of rebuilding the squad for the new season.

On that note, Roony Bardghji’s future at Barcelona could become one of the more intriguing stories of the summer.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Premier League side Leeds United have emerged as a club interested in giving the young winger a fresh opportunity away from Camp Nou.

The 20-year-old arrived at Barcelona from Copenhagen with significant expectations and signed a contract running until 2029. However, breaking into Hansi Flick’s plans has proven difficult, largely because of the extraordinary competition ahead of him in the attacking positions.

Bardghji’s biggest obstacle has been obvious. On the right wing, one of the places where he is most comfortable, Barcelona already have Lamine Yamal, arguably the most influential young attacker in world football. As a result, opportunities have been limited despite the Swedish talent’s potential.

A loan move is currently viewed as the most likely solution. The report states that Premier League interest has emerged, with Leeds United among the clubs monitoring Bardghji’s situation ahead of the new season.

A loan could benefit all parties

The numbers help explain why a temporary departure is being considered. Bardghji managed only 871 minutes across 28 official appearances last season, making regular development difficult for a player at such a critical stage of his career.

Barcelona’s priority is not to sell him. The club still view Bardghji as a valuable long-term asset and believe he has qualities that could eventually earn him a more prominent role.

What he needs now is consistent playing time and the chance to develop away from the intense competition within Flick’s squad.

Leeds could offer exactly that. The Premier League side are keeping a close eye on the winger and could present an attractive environment where he would face a different tactical challenge while gaining valuable experience in a physically demanding league.

A successful loan would allow Bardghji to continue his progression while protecting the investment the club made when they brought him from Denmark.

No formal cash offer has arrived at this stage, meaning discussions remain at an early phase. Bardghji is expected to report for preseason unless his future is resolved beforehand.

Given Barcelona’s attacking depth and the presence of Lamine Yamal, a temporary move increasingly feels like the logical next step. If Leeds decide to intensify their interest, they could become serious contenders to secure one of Barca’s most talented young forwards.
