Leeds United have reshaped their January plans with Facundo Buonanotte arriving on loan from Brighton and Hove Albion after a recall from Chelsea, and Jack Harrison leaving for Fiorentina on loan with a possible summer buy. Attention has now turned to potential defensive cover.

According to The Sun, Leeds and Nottingham Forest have ‘expressed interest’ in Fenerbahce defender Jayden Oosterwolde. Crystal Palace are said to be leading the chase after stepping up their interest following the sale of captain Marc Guehi to Manchester City, and the report adds there have been no club-to-club talks.

The 24-year-old joined Fenerbahce from Parma in 2023, suffered a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in October 2024, returned late last season, and has been a regular this term as they contest the title with Galatasaray.

Daniel Farke has said a defender is not currently a priority, although that could change if Jaka Bijol’s hamstring problem proves worse than first feared. He put the initial timeframe at three to five weeks and said Leeds would react if there is a late January setback, stressing there is no need for panic.

Harrison, seeking a reset after two difficult loan spells at Everton and limited minutes under Farke, called it a new adventure. He said he is excited to meet his team-mates, train at Viola Park and embrace a new experience, adding he has not yet visited Florence.
