According to the Daily Mail (23/8 paper edition; page 75), the Whites could potentially dip into the free agent market to recruit the player, with the club potentially needing another option in this area before the summer window closes.

Archie Gray, their first-choice right-back for the vast majority of last season, secured a move to Tottenham Hotspur earlier in the window, which was a big blow for Daniel Farke and his side.

However, he isn't the only right-back to have left Elland Road since the end of last term, with Connor Roberts returning to Burnley following the end of his loan spell.

The Welshman looks set to be heavily involved for the Clarets during the 2024/25 campaign and with this in mind, it would be difficult to see him making the move back to West Yorkshire anytime soon.

Rasmus Kristensen, meanwhile, has secured another loan exit and it would be difficult to see him making another appearance for Leeds, especially if they don't manage to secure a Premier League return at the second time of asking.

In terms of those who have been released, Luke Ayling was an excellent servant and could have been a brilliant backup option for summer signing Jayden Bogle, who joined this summer and looks set to be one of the first names on the teamsheet throughout the 2024/25 season if he can stay fit.

Cody Drameh was offered a new contract, but he decided to make the move to Hull City in the end, and all of these departures have left the Whites very short of options at right-back.

Some players could potentially play in this position if needed, including Sam Byram, but Byram may be needed on the left-hand side instead as a backup option for Junior Firpo.

Leeds United considering Michael Lang move

According to the Daily Mail, Leeds are exploring a potential move for Lang, who is a free agent, with no compensation due to any club if they recruit him.

The 33-year-old has spent the vast majority of his career in his home nation of Switzerland, but also played for Borussia Monchengladbach and that could potentially mean that he's open to moving to another country again.

Being released by Basel this summer, he could potentially be poached by the Whites, who could definitely benefit from recruiting another right-back in the coming days.

Michael Lang's potential move to Leeds United could benefit both parties

Lang won't be a long-term solution for Leeds, but he could be a great backup option.

The 33-year-old has plenty of experience under his belt and this could help the Whites if Bogle gets injured.

As mentioned above, Byram could be a good option to have in this area, but they need more full-backs.

And Lang could end up being a shrewd addition for a season or two.

Even though the Whites can afford to spend money, they should look to use the free agent market if it will benefit them and it should in this case, if they sign the full-back.
