A well-known Leeds United supporter has gone missing while travelling to the World Cup, prompting an urgent appeal from his family. According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, Michael ‘Little Mick’ Hewitt was heading to the United States for England’s second group fixture.

He left Leeds on Saturday 20 June, travelling via Barcelona. His family last heard from him in the early hours of Sunday 21 June after he landed in Spain. He was due in Boston for that match.

In a widely shared post, his brother Gary appealed for help tracing Michael, widely known as Little Mick, a familiar figure to Whites fans after following the club home and away for decades. Since that early Sunday contact, his phone has been out of service and there have been no social media updates.

He has been reported missing, with a case raised with the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, reference 02470905. Interpol have been alerted to establish whether he travelled on to the USA or remained in Barcelona.

A UK police reference of 20260628/1183 has been issued, with the missing person report recorded at 3.09pm on Sunday 28 June.

Anyone who has seen Michael since Sunday 21 June, or had contact with him, is asked to inform the family or the FCDO. His relatives say they are very worried for his safety and want him home.
