Sixteen Leeds United supporters could be prosecuted for homophobic chanting after the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley, where 14 arrests were made.

A Met Police spokesperson said the match passed largely without incident and that 14 arrests were made in or around the stadium for offences including GBH, ABH, affray, assault on an emergency worker, common assault and tailgating.

A further 18 people were not arrested but will be reported for consideration of prosecution, including 16 Leeds fans identified as engaging in homophobic chanting.

Chelsea edged their Premier League rivals in bright sunshine thanks to an Enzo Fernandez first-half goal, with an announced attendance of 82,542.

Leeds had previously warned supporters ahead of a 2024 meeting with Chelsea that the rent boy chant is a homophobic slur and a hate crime. It was made prosecutable by the Crown Prosecution Service in January 2022, and the FA told clubs in January 2023 it would pursue formal disciplinary action over its use.
