Leeds United’s grievance over a denied penalty in the Sunderland defeat has been upheld by the Premier League’s Key Match Incidents Panel. Daniel Farke had called the non-award crazy after the match.

The panel ruled unanimously that the officials erred, noting Luke O'Nien’s hold on Pascal Struijk impeded the Leeds player’s run, according to the BBC.

The flashpoint came in the first half when O'Nien grabbed Struijk around the neck, the defender went down in the box, but referee Stuart Attwell let play continue and VAR did not intervene.

Officiating has been a recurring theme in Farke’s recent media briefings. He was angered by the lack of a penalty for an apparent handball against Man City, and was sent off at full-time after jogging onto the pitch to ask Peter Bankes why he had blown for full-time so soon after the minimum stoppage time.

On Sunday at Crystal Palace he was frustrated by Gabriel Gudmundsson’s dismissal for a second booking, insisting the challenge was never a yellow card. Later Brennan Johnson avoided a second yellow for a foul on James Justin, which Farke felt was worse than Gudmundsson’s.
