Arsenal’s plans to fly to Leeds on Friday were scrapped because of heavy fog, disrupting preparations for Saturday’s Premier League match at Elland Road.

According to football.london, social media claims that the squad’s aircraft turned back mid-flight were incorrect, with the club instead seeking alternative transport before the three pm kick-off.

This will be Arsenal’s first visit to Elland Road since 2022, when a single Bukayo Saka strike earned the points and Patrick Bamford missed a penalty.

Arsenal travel looking to rebuild rhythm after last weekend’s defeat to Manchester United, a result that cut their lead at the summit to four points.

Leeds are 16th, six points clear of the relegation zone, and trail only Arsenal and Chelsea for set-piece goals this season. If the fog stays away, Mikel Arteta said the plan is to concede very little and, if they do, defend for their lives with good organisation.

Arteta also confirmed William Saliba and Jurrien Timber are set to be in the squad after minor issues that kept them out against Kairat Almaty in the Champions League in midweek.
