Leeds United ‘hold talks’ with Shea Charles and eye World Cup centre-back | OneFootball

Leeds United are targeting Bosnia and Herzegovina centre-back Tarik Muharemovic after Pascal Struijk’s £20m move to Brighton, with interest understood to be at an early stage.

Fabrizio Romano reported that Leeds have joined the chase for the 23-year-old Sassuolo defender, adding that Bournemouth and Sunderland have made enquiries and that former club Juventus, who retain a 50 per cent sell-on clause, must decide their stance.

Muharemovic, six-foot-four, was in Bosnia and Herzegovina’s World Cup squad. He played the full 1-1 group opener against Canada, started against Switzerland but was sent off for denying a goalscoring opportunity with 10 minutes left, then missed the Qatar finale through suspension.

He returned for the round of 32 against the USA, completing the match in a 2-0 defeat.

Leeds are also interested in 22-year-old Southampton midfielder Shea Charles. Mail claims Leeds held positive talks over the weekend and that a decision was close.

Talks remain ongoing and there is currently no update.
