Leeds United were without eight first-team players for the weekend’s first pre-season friendly against Phil Parkinson’s Wrexham, with four absences injury-related.

According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, Dominic Calvert-Lewin suffered a small pre-season setback that halted his individual programme. He is training on his own in camp and building towards a return to team sessions and matches.

Jaka Bijol missed out after a knee knock. Sebastiaan Bornauw had a minor issue and was not risked.

Ilia Gruev’s 2025-26 campaign ended early with a meniscus knee injury. He was expected to be back for pre-season and is in the USA tour group, although his full return could take time.

Noah Okafor was granted an extended break after reaching the World Cup quarter-finals with Switzerland and was not in the travelling squad. Brenden Aaronson, another World Cup participant, was named in the group but has not yet been seen with it and is expected to feature later on the tour.
