Leeds United have a new injury worry, with Daniel Farke assessing Sebastiaan Bornauw after the FA Cup win, while Daniel James remains weeks away.
A much-rotated Leeds side swept aside Derby County 3-1 in Sunday’s third round, their second-half push decisive. According to Leeds Live, Sean Longstaff made his first appearance since November from the bench after a calf problem, while Sam Byram also got minutes following a minor back issue.
Joe Rodon and Gabriel Gudmundsson were left out for rest. Rodon had already made a surprise return against Newcastle after ankle ligament trouble.
Bornauw was withdrawn at half-time with a suspected adductor or hip flexor problem, having felt it from minute 15 or 20 and signalling before the interval. Farke does not think it is significant and hopes a six-day gap before Fulham helps. He is expected to be available on 17 January at Fulham, and his fitness matters given Leeds have only four natural centre-backs for a back-three set-up.
James has been out since a first-half hamstring injury in the late-November defeat to Manchester City, which was his first start since August. He has had other setbacks this season, including a blow to the torso and an ankle issue, but has avoided surgery and is following a conservative plan. Farke estimated about eight weeks out before he can rejoin team training, so a February return is expected.
