Leeds United have identified Sheffield United striker Daniel Jebbison as one of their top targets, according to a report from HITC.

The Whites have work to do in the transfer market following their failure to secure a return to the top flight at the first time of asking.

Although they currently have a strong squad, they could potentially lose some key first-teamers this summer with the Whites potentially needing to generate up to £100m in player sales.

That could see the likes of Archie Gray, Willy Gnonto and Crysencio Summerville all move on in the coming months, and even without the trio potentially departing, they need to replace Joe Rodon and their other former loanees who have left Elland Road.

Plenty of departments may need to be addressed this summer, depending on whether certain players are released or not, but the striker department is one they probably need to take a closer look at regardless of who goes and who stays.

Mateo Joseph can operate in a striker role along with Patrick Bamford - and Joel Piroe can also play there - but Georginio Rutter has operated in a deeper role during the 2023/24 campaign and another striker option may provide them with adequate depth.

Joe Gelhardt is another potential option, but his game time during the 2023/24 campaign was limited, and it wouldn't be a shock to see him depart the West Yorkshire outfit in the coming months.

Leeds United among teams eyeing Daniel Jebbison move

Plenty of teams are thought to be keen on the forward, who is out of contract in the summer and could be recruited for a compensation fee, with Leeds just one team in the mix for him.

Brighton and Hove Albion and Everton are thought to be eyeing a move for him, along with Ipswich Town and Leicester City, with the latter needing to address their striker area during the summer.

But whether he's the type of striker they need is questionable.

Interest in him isn't just limited to clubs in England, with Borussia Dortmund, Juventus, Monaco and Valencia all named in the HITC report as clubs that have expressed an interest.

Leeds United should consider pushing through a deal for Daniel Jebbison

Jebbison's goalscoring record at Bramall Lane hasn't been that impressive.

And he only managed to register one appearance during the 2023/24 campaign, so it would be understandable if the Whites opted against making a move for the forward despite their interest.

However, it's clear that he's a real talent and for a compensation fee, he would be a low-risk signing who could end up making Leeds millions of pounds in the future.

And he could make an instant impact at a senior level for Leeds if he does make the move to Elland Road, so this could be a move that pays dividends in both the short and long term.

They will need to make him an attractive offer though, with other teams in the race to get a deal over the line for him.
