Leeds United are preparing for another season in the Championship after failing to win promotion, and it's set to be a busy summer at Elland Road.

The Whites will have a battle on their hands to keep hold of some of their star players, and may be forced to sell to generate funds, with chairman Paraag Marathe stating that the club "need to make trade-offs" in the aftermath of their play-off final defeat.

The opening of the summer transfer window is just around the corner, and you feel as if there will be plenty of comings and goings at Elland Road in the months to follow.

With that in mind, here is all the latest Leeds United news...

Brenden Aaronson set to return

Brenden Aaronson is set to be part of Daniel Farke's squad for the 2024/25 season when he returns from his loan spell at Union Berlin, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.

The American international failed to make an impact during the 2022/23 season, which saw the Whites relegated from the Premier League, and subsequently exercised a loan release clause in his contract to move away from Elland Road.

However, Aaronson held talks with Farke which seemingly went well, and the 23-year-old is set to be part of the club's promotion efforts next season.

The former Red Bull Salzburg man has a battle on his hands to win over the club's fans who were less than impressed with his performances or by the way he left the club, but he could be a useful addition, particularly with the club being desperate for someone to fill the number 10 role.

Charlie Cresswell set for summer exit

Centre-back Charlie Cresswell is set to leave Leeds United this summer, with a number of clubs on the continent interested in signing him.

The 21-year-old played just seven games for Leeds in all competitions this season, with Farke stating in January that he wasn't "mentally ready" to play.

Alan Nixon reported via his Patreon that Toulouse, Hannover and Hertha Berlin are interested in signing the Preston-born defender, and that Leeds would want a fee of around £3million plus extras.

Given his lack of playing time, it seems sensible to sell Cresswell this summer, and £3million for a player who has barely featured is good business for Leeds, particularly with their need to sell players.

Leeds United chase Eredivisie winger amid PSV and Sevilla interest

Leeds United are interested in signing Excelsior Rotterdam winger Couhaib Driouech, according to Dutch outlet Voetbal Zone.

The 22-year-old impressed in an Excelsior side that ultimately suffered relegation, registering six goals and six assists from 26 appearances in the Eredivisie, and has seemingly attracted interest from a number of clubs.

Dutch giants PSV Eindhoven have made an approach to sign the 22-year-old, but it's understood by Voetbal Zone that their €1million offer has been deemed unacceptable.

Sevilla, and eight unnamed clubs are said to be interested in the Excelsior man, so Leeds will certainly face competition if they're to agree any deal for him.

Excelsior's asking price of between £2.9million and £3.4million would be affordable for Leeds, but a lot of their summer business is set to depend on outgoings, with Farke only fully knowing then which positions he'll need to strengthen in.

Crysencio Summerville latest

Arguably Leeds United's most prized asset, Crysencio Summerville, has been the subject of plenty of transfer interest, and a new club has joined the race to sign him.

According to TEAMtalk, Brighton have joined the race to bring him to the Premier League, and they join Chelsea, Liverpool and Fulham in holding an interest in the Dutchman.

Summerville was unable to help fire Leeds back to the Premier League at the first attempt, but he couldn't have done much more, scoring 19 goals and registering nine assists in 43 Championship appearances.

It's also reported by TEAMtalk that Summerville has no plans to force a move away from Elland Road, but the club's financial situation means his exit is likely this summer.

If that's the case, Leeds will be happy that a number of clubs are interested in him as this could start a bidding war, allowing the Whites to maximise profits.
