Leeds United have ‘now formalised’ their interest in a star who scored 33 goals last term and is a target for a Premier League club, according to talkSPORT.

Whites boss Daniel Farke wants to make no mistake in the Championship in the upcoming season and is keen to have the firepower to get out of the division.

Now Farke is keen on Blackburn Rovers attacker Sammie Szmodics, who scored for Rovers at Elland Road last season.

Szmodics grabbed an astonishing 33 goals across all competitions last season and finished as the Championship’s top goalscorer.

Premier League side Ipswich Town are currently trying to sign Szmodics.

Leeds though have ‘now formalised’ their interest in the player as they look to try to win the race.

Blackburn are already in the process of eyeing replacements for Szmodics, 28, and will sell for the right price.

Leeds though will need to convince Szmodics that he should snub a step up to the Premier League to move to Elland Road.
