Leeds United’s first pre-season outing ended in defeat to Wrexham, and focus now turns to where bookmakers think the Whites will finish in their second season back in the Premier League.
Nine weeks after the final game of 2025-26 at West Ham, Leeds opened their summer schedule against the Championship side at Raymond James Stadium in New Jersey. According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, the latest odds provide the early picture for the campaign.
Boss Daniel Farke mixed experience and youth. Leeds trailed inside 31 seconds and missed a penalty, yet strikes from Joel Piroe, who had earlier failed from the spot, and Sean Longstaff made it 2-2 by half-time.
Summer signing Harry Wilson came on at the break and impressed as chances arrived to lead, but Sam Smith’s 88th-minute finish gave Wrexham a 3-2 win.
Friendlies count for little, but this offered an early look at a new look Leeds. Bookmakers currently have Arsenal as 7-4 favourites, with Manchester City 3-1 second favourites and as short as 9-4 with some firms. Liverpool are 7-1, Manchester United 15-2, Chelsea 9-1 and Tottenham Hotspur 28-1, as short as 18s with some firms.
Those prices feed into a projected table that also sets Leeds alongside Sunderland, Crystal Palace, Everton and newly promoted Coventry City, Ipswich Town and Hull City.
