Leeds United’s goalkeeper search has taken a twist, with Italian media claiming Zion Suzuki has rejected a bid from Elland Road.

The Parma goalkeeper, who impressed for Japan at the World Cup, has been linked with Leeds and Aston Villa in recent weeks. United are said to have made, or be preparing, an offer for the 23-year-old, who is valued at about £26 million.

Uncertainty remains over last season’s options. Lucas Perri lost his place to Karl Darlow, who is now considering a contract offer from Leeds.

There has been no reporting of direct contact between Leeds and Parma over a fee.

Leeds have also been linked with Konstantinos Tzolakis at Olympiacos, Man City’s James Trafford and Derby’s Sweden Jacob Widdel Zetterstrom.
