If a recent report from Sky Sports is believed to be true, Leeds United are assessing the winger market, as the club aim for winter reinforcements after a failed move for Harry Wilson late in the summer window. Fulham bolstered them down the wide by snapping up Kevin and Samuel Chukwueze. Yet they pulled the plug on the Welsman’s exit, who remains key to Marco Silva’s set-up at Craven Cottage.
It was a late drama on the deadline day when Wilson signed a deal sheet to ply his trade to Elland Road. He was eager for a fresh challenge amid uncertainties over regular gametime, but the gaffer has rather deployed him in every outing despite Kevin and Chukwueze’s arrival.
While Leeds United remain keen on signing the ex-Liverpool youngster, Silva expects him to pen a new contract to extend his stay beyond next summer. The Whites are aware of all possibilities and, therefore, have kept their options open for January.
Leeds roped in Noah Okafor, who has slotted in down the left-hand flank. However, Daniel Farke is forced to deploy Brendan Aaronson as a makeshift wideman amid injuries to Wilfried Gnonto and Daniel James.

Jack Harrison is deputising for both the wingers as a second-half substitute, but the Englishman has not done enough to challenge for a starting spot in their battle for survival. Options like Largie Ramazani, Mateo Joseph and Joe Gelhardt have been loaned out for not being in the manager’s plans, and the Yorkshire giants must bring in a new name, be it Wilson or someone else, to bolster the attacking third.
The 28-year-old Wales international progressed through Liverpool’s academy ranks, but only made a couple of Cup appearances during his tenure. He spent his time out on loan at Crewe Alexandra, Hull City, Derby County, Bournemouth, Cardiff City and Fulham. The wide attacker contributed to the Cottagers’ top-flight promotion and eventually completed a permanent transfer for a fee of around €14m. So far, he has netted 26 goals and laid on 38 times in 155 appearances for the West Londoners, and the Peacocks must keep pushing for his signing, as he would fit in their high-possession, proactive play with flexibility in formation.
Leeds already have a strong Wales contingent consisting of Joe Rodon, Karl Darlow and James. Wilson would have familiar surroundings, also his Premier League experience should see him hit the ground running as an impact signing.
