Leeds United have completed the signing of Tarik Muharemović from Sassuolo on a five-year contract, their second permanent addition of the window after Harry Wilson.

The 23-year-old centre-back has been earmarked to take Pascal Struijk’s place after the Dutchman joined Brighton earlier this summer, having impressed in his first Serie A campaign.

A commanding defender at six ft four in, Muharemović began his career in Austria and made his senior debut for Wolfsberger AC before Juventus moved to sign him, where he developed into a full international.

He joined Sassuolo on loan in August 2024 and scored in his second match. After 30 appearances the move became permanent, and he made a further 33 outings last season as Sassuolo finished 11th in Serie A.

Muharemović has 17 senior caps and featured for Bosnia and Herzegovina at this summer’s World Cup. Leeds continue to strengthen Daniel Farke’s starting XI, pursuing James Trafford, holding talks with Julian Brandt’s representatives this week, and hoping to reach an agreement with Southampton for Shea Charles.
