Rasmus Kristensen is set to make a permanent move away from Elland Road, with his current loan side ready to sign him for the long term.

Eintracht Frankfurt are keen to trigger their option to sign Rasmus Kristensen on a permanent deal from Leeds United.

This is according to Florian Plettenberg, who has also revealed that the permanent clause is believed to be worth between €10m-€12m.

Kristensen's future was unclear following his loan spell at AS Roma last season.

It wouldn't have surprised fans that he moved on again, especially after spending the 2023/24 campaign away from Elland Road.

However, Leeds were short of right-back options at the time of his departure, with last season's first-choice option Archie Gray securing a big-money move to Tottenham Hotspur.

Not only this, but Luke Ayling moved on and so did Cody Drameh, with both players leaving the West Yorkshire side on the expiration of their contracts.

Connor Roberts, meanwhile, returned to Burnley following the end of his loan stay at Daniel Farke's side, so there was certainly work to be done in this area during the summer window.

Thankfully for the Whites, they were able to finalise deals to bring Jayden Bogle and Isaac Schmidt to Elland Road during the previous window, providing them with options in this area.

And this could allow Leeds to sell Kristensen permanently, without having major worries about depth in their right-back area, with Sam Byram also able to be an option there when he's not needed on the left-hand side.

Frankfurt ready to trigger permanent Rasmus Kristensen option

The Bundesliga side have taken the full-back on a season-long loan deal, which gives them the opportunity to fully assess him before deciding whether to recruit him permanently or not.

But with club officials already impressed with him and the German outfit seemingly having the option to trigger the permanent option in his loan deal at any point, they are thought to be ready to sign him for the longer term.

The permanent option is believed to be worth between €10m-€12m, which means the Whites could be set for an eight-figure payday if Frankfurt go ahead and activate this clause.

Kristensen's contract at Elland Road doesn't expire until 2027, but his spell in West Yorkshire may be coming to a permanent end very shortly.

Rasmus Kristensen's departure could provide Leeds United boost

Farke hasn't really had the opportunity to work with Kristensen for a long period, so his permanent departure wouldn't make much of a difference to Leeds' head coach.

However, it could allow the Whites to raise extra funds and that can only be a good thing for the West Yorkshire side, who will want a decent budget for January.

It could be argued that the bulk of their work was done in January, but it wouldn't harm them to secure some more players if they can add value to the squad.

The midfield area is particularly problematic at this stage, with Ethan Ampadu and Ilia Gruev currently out of action for the foreseeable future.

And the funds generated from this sale could help them to lure an exciting free agent to Elland Road if they find a suitable option.
