Leeds United have signed Bosnian defender Tarik Muharemovic for £34m as their second summer addition, a move that reshapes their likely strongest XI and bench.

According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, the Bosnia and Herzegovina international joined on a five-year deal from Sassuolo on Friday afternoon, nine days after Harry Wilson arrived on a free.

The fee makes Muharemovic the second-costliest signing in Leeds history, behind Georginio Rutter at £35.5m, and he arrives after impressing at the World Cup.

His arrival addresses the gap left by Pascal Struijk’s £20m move to Brighton this summer. Another exit this week saw Karl Darlow join Manchester United on a free after his contract expired.

Darlow is the second goalkeeper to depart in this window, following Illan Meslier, who left at the end of his deal and has since joined Arsenal as a back-up goalkeeper.

Isaac Schmidt, who could have returned, has instead signed permanently for Young Boys after a loan at Werder Bremen. With Wilson and Muharemovic in, Leeds’ most likely XI and bench now take on a different look.
