Leeds United have submitted a planning application to Leeds City Council for a new Fan Park at Elland Road as part of the ground’s redevelopment. The club said in a statement that the venue would hold around 2,000 and could stage live events, including screenings.
Council planners approved phase one earlier this year. Work on a new West Stand is under way, a North Stand is planned, and the stadium’s projected capacity is around 53,000.
Designs outline two levels of bar and seating areas and an outdoor courtyard, plus space for varied food and beverage retailers. A new roof is planned to provide natural light and ventilation.
Leeds have completed the purchase of a warehouse and units beside the Stadium Way car park, opposite the East Stand. The plan is to convert part of the building while keeping its industrial character.
The proposal is described as aligning with the council’s wider Elland Road masterplan, which includes mixed-use development to the west, north and east of the stadium, and a mass transit link.
Leeds will hold their first stadium liaison meeting on Thursday July 23 at six pm in the Gary Speed Suite. The session will update the public on the redevelopment, invite feedback on the Fan Park plans and take any concerns.
