Leeds United’s summer pursuit of Julian Brandt is over after the Germany international signed a three-year deal with Ajax.

According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, Leeds have been weighing up other attacking options since failing to complete a move before their pre-season tour of the USA.

Brandt, 30, was a free agent after his Borussia Dortmund contract expired. Leeds made an offer and his father, Jurgen, visited Thorp Arch for talks.

The midfielder had interest from elsewhere and has chosen Ajax. His contract in Amsterdam takes him through to 30 June 2029.

Brandt spent seven seasons with Dortmund, having previously played six seasons for Bayer Leverkusen. He has 48 Germany caps.

Marseille forward Igor Paixão, a Leeds target last summer, is among the forwards under consideration as they move to other options.
