Leeds United will travel to West Ham United or Brentford in the FA Cup quarter-finals on the weekend of 4 April. Victory would take them to Wembley, with this their first last-eight tie in 23 years.
According to Leeds Live, if West Ham prevail in tonight’s fifth-round match, it will serve as a rehearsal for the Premier League meeting on the final day. If it is Brentford, the tie would bookend the March international break, with Leeds hosting them on 21 March.
Leeds last met West Ham in the FA Cup in 2022, losing 2-0 in the third round, and have won only one of four cup ties against the Hammers. Brentford have faced Leeds just once in the competition, a 2-1 third-round win in 1953.
Leeds have yet to lose against Brentford or West Ham in their Premier League meetings so far this season. Daniel Farke has cautioned that going all the way is not realistic at this stage and had hoped for another home draw, but United will now face top-flight opposition for the first time in this cup run.
They reached the quarters after a 3-1 win over Derby County, a penalty shoot-out success at Birmingham City and a 3-0 home victory against Norwich City in Sunday’s fifth round. All three opponents are in the Championship.
Many fans have never seen Leeds at this stage, with the last semi-final coming in 1987.
