Leeds United transfers, trio tracked amid Shea Charles stalemate | OneFootball

Leeds United are juggling three ongoing transfer possibilities as they prepare to head to the United States of America this week.

According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, Daniel Farke’s squad fly later this week for a training camp and three friendlies, Wrexham in Tampa in the early hours of Sunday, then Sunderland in New Jersey and Liverpool in Chicago. World Cup players are due back as their FIFA mandated three-week breaks end, and new signing Tarik Muharemovic has resumed his holiday after interrupting it on Thursday and Friday last week to complete his move to Elland Road.

Goalkeeper James Trafford, part of the England squad that finished third at the World Cup, is now on his three-week break. He could leave Manchester City this summer, with Leeds in the mix. There is currently no active pursuit of Royal Union Saint-Gilloise keeper Kjell Scherpen, although he is known to the club.

Leeds remain keen on free agent Julian Brandt as his Borussia Dortmund contract expires. His father Jurgen visited Thorp Arch for talks last week. Other clubs are also attempting to sign the 30-year-old.

Talk of negotiations with Lyon for Czech attacker Pavel Sulc has surfaced, but the stance mirrors Scherpen. Leeds are not actively pursuing a deal at present, though that could change if other business does not materialise.

The summer’s longest-running strand remains the bid to prise Shea Charles from Southampton. Claims that a deal is close or agreed have been wide of the mark. Leeds hope to find an agreement, but a gap in valuations for the 22-year-old has left a stalemate.

Leeds have previously concluded transfers while away in pre-season. Last summer Lucas Perri and Anton Stach joined after moves from Lyon and Hoffenheim, with club staff flying to Germany to speed progress. The Whites have also used local medical facilities while travelling to complete medicals.
